To Whom and or What am I a Slave Of

Most of us believe that our survival dictates that we must work to support our families, to save for our retirement, to pay for the things we enjoy in life and to attempt to be financially secure. Yet, Jesus taught us, "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal." (Matthew 6:19-20)Are the aforementioned teachings of Jesus contrary to what the world demands we must do to ensure our security and survival?  Let us consider what Jesus' was attempting to teach us.Jesus continued with his teaching stating that, " For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also...(Matthew 6:21).   Perhaps Jesus was…

Tired of Pain and Suffering

Frankly, serving God and the public as a pastor, is not always an easy commitment for my life’s work.  Daily, I receive tear jerking letters from people who are tired of the pain and suffering that their family, friends and themselves often endure.Very rarely, do such letters omit the question, ‘why does God permit so much pain and suffering to go on in this world?’Is pain and suffering the plan that God has for your life?  It took me years to realize myself, who is actually responsible for the pain and suffering many of us have and or now experiencing. Who is the Ruler of This World? In answering who is the ruler of this world, we can consult God’s word, the Bible, which tells us that the world belongs to Satan.  Please consider how Satan attempted to sway Jesus…

Why is Satan Allowed To Rule This World

Inspiration Why is satan allowed to rule this world How did it come to be that God has allowed Satan to rule the world in consideration that the Bible informs us that “In the beginning, when God created the universe, the earth was formless and desolate. The raging ocean that covered everything was engulfed in total darkness, and the Spirit of God was moving over the water. Then God commanded, “Let there be light”—and light appeared. God was pleased with what he saw. Then he separated the light from the darkness, and he named the light “Day” and the darkness “Night.” Evening passed and morning came.....”? (Genesis 1:1-25) The Bible further informs us that “Then God said, And now we will make human beings; they will be like us and resemble us. They will have power over the…

Who is Satan?

As previously discussed the Bible states that Satan is currently in charge of this world.   Even Jesus Christ Himself, shortly before His arrest and crucifixion, acknowledged Satan’s authority: “I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me” (John 14:30)Satan cleverly influences world events by injecting his evil ideas into the minds of human beings, much as a television transmitter broadcasts its signal into the air to be received in people’s homes.  This analogy can help us see why Scripture calls Satan the “prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were…

Will I Go To Heaven

Many people in my congregation ask me, “do you think I will go to heaven when I die?”  Although it would be interesting to text God for a list of those who may be on a heavenly approval list, should one exist, the Bible tells us, that no one but God knows who will be admitted.Only God knows what is in a persons heart.   Jesus tells us that “Only God knows our hearts, and only He knows whether a person has sincerely put his faith in Christ as his Lord and Savior.” (Matthew 7:1).   Additionally, Jesus has told us that “the gateway to life (heaven) is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.”  (Matthew 7:14)Don’t Be FooledGoing to church every week, tithing and confessing our sins to Jesus Christ, is…

A Meaningful Life

Depending on who you may ask, what is a meaningful life, you would most likely receive many different answers.  If you were to further ask people would they consider a meaningful life to include being hated, persecuted and eventually put to death, no doubt you would hear that many people would not consider a life under those conditions very meaningful.  Yet, the best example we have of a truly meaningful life, was the life of Jesus.   But, did Jesus really have a meaningful life? He evidently was brought up in humble surroundings, and throughout his life he had few of this world’s goods. He actually had “nowhere to lay down his head.” (Luke 9:57, 58) In addition, he was hated, slandered, and finally put to death by his enemies.              You may reason, ‘Such a life is…

We Must Forgive The Clintons

Mrs. Hillary Clinton is as much a child of God as we all are.  We must forgive the Clinton’s if God will deliver us a savior in Trump.  God has sent us a deliverer, the right person equipped to heal our nation, Mr. Donald John Trump.  However, how can we expect our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to deliver us from the evil our world is overfilled with if we cannot find forgiveness for those fallen children of God, such as Mrs. Clinton?  We need to pray for all of God’s children who have lost their relationships with Jesus.  Only then can we expect the mercy, grace and forgiveness that comes from our relationships with God.There’s a huge difference between simply knowing that we possess God’s Life in our hearts and actually experiencing it in our lives. The key to…

An Abundance of Opportunities

AS CHRISTIANS, we  have an abundance of opportunities; but instead of pursuing our own rights, prosperity, and happiness, we have a higher calling. It’s summarized best in Luke 10:27:You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.                   Each day we have opportunities, a calling from God, to demonstrate our whole-hearted devotion to God by loving and caring for those around us. Unfortunately, so many people are discouraged and burdened by the hardships and hurts of life. Many of God’s children long for a listening ear and helping hand, but sometimes we’re too busy to even notice, let alone sacrifice our time and effort to help.                  To illustrate our responsibility to care…

Christian Faith

For many the Christian faith is a mysterious thing, but it need not be. In fact, it is simple enough that a child can understand it. To “be a Christian” is to have a relationship with God through God’s unique Son, Jesus Christ. This relationship is not earned by our merits, good deeds, worship, proper behavior, attendance at church, personal morality, public service or anything of human origin.  While these things are all important byproducts of our relationship with God, they are secondary to God’s salvation — his rescue of us through Jesus Christ. This relationship begins and ends with what God has done — God has spoken to us, God has acted for us, and through Jesus Christ God has come to our rescue. God then challenges us to respond to these actions by accepting his offer of rescue.God…

Family Arrangement

God loves the family arrangement.  In the beginning of time, God command Adam and Eve to be fruitful and become many and fill the earth.” (Genesis 1:28) With those words to Adam and Eve, God  instituted the family arrangement. (Ephesians 3:14, 15) Looking ahead, that first couple could envision an earth filled with their progeny—an extended family of perfect individuals living joyfully on earth and worshiping God.             Adam and Eve were created in God’s image. Though now a sinner, Adam was permitted by God to have children. (Genesis 1:27; 5:1-4) Like their father, Adam’s offspring had moral capacity and could learn to distinguish between right and wrong. They could be instructed about how to worship their Creator and the importance of loving him with their whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. (Mark 12:30; John…
