Trump – A Great Leader?

Was Donald Trump a great leader?  Arguably, many Americans prior to the 2020 Presidential Election were feeling pretty good about the economy and prospects for the future under the leadership of Donald J. Trump.During Trump’s leadership, unemployment in 2019, a major concern of many American’s, was reported to be at an all-time low percentage of 3.9%.In 2018, Forbes Magazine reported  that consumer confidence is never been better. However, during Trumps’ presidency,  even the staunches Trump supporters were feeling a dark gloom lurking in the shadows of our leaders great successes.  Never in the history of American, has so much evil come to light as what the world has witnessed over the past 6 yearsUnprecedented Evil and DisastersFor instance, in 2016, the news went viral online: over 1,500 human traffickers and pedophiles were arrested from January 2016 - 2017, in…

Systemic Racism – A Lesson From The Book of Jonah

Today, many people contend that systemic racism continues to exist in our communities and within our Christian congregations.  Racism can be defined as what makes some people see others with suspicion or to attribute negative characteristics to an entire group of people. This type of evil manifests itself in many peoples’ individual thoughts, and also in the workings of our society itself.   Many people today protest that what they perceive as continuing inequalities in education, housing, employment, wealth, and representation in leadership positions are rooted in what they believe is America’s shameful history of slavery and systemic racism. There is no argument that during the 1950s and 1960s, black Americans fiercely struggled to gain equal rights under the law in the United States.  However, people seeing others with suspicion or attributing negative characteristics to an entire group of…

Christians Under Attack

Christians Under Attack H.R. 5 As Christian’s, we must be concerned about H.R. 5. We must be deeply disturbed by many of the provisions of H.R. 5 and the violations of your inalienable rights that will occur if it is permitted to become law. I urge you to oppose H.R. 5.       As people of faith, we must be particularly concerned about Section 9 of  H.R. 5, which would deny all US citizens the protections of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.  This is a blatant attack on our right to free exercise of religion that has been part of the First Amendment since the founding of our country. There is absolutely no reasonable justification for a bill that claims to be aimed at preventing discrimination and promoting equal treatment to promote discrimination against people of faith.…

Dealing With Life’s Problems

Satan continues to attack us with unexpected problems. The problems we face as a Christians will either defeat us or strengthen our faith - depending on how we respond to them.    Unfortunately, when under attack from Satan, most people fail to see how God will use problems to bring out the good in our lives. We often will act foolishly and resent our problems rather than pausing to consider what good may ultimately come from them.     If you’re over the age of 5 years old, then you’ve probably already figured out that life can be very challenging at times. Financial problems, pain in relationships, and even tragedies are part of everyday life. It is no wonder that Jesus told His disciples, “Take courage. There are many storms in this life.”  “But take heart, I…

Coffee Tastes The Best When Its Free

I know that it is difficult sometimes to look past your own problems to recognize problems other people are experiencing.  Several days ago, after leaving one of my frequent trips to the hospital, I decided to treat myself to a cup of my favorite coffee.  When I got to the window to pay, the young clerk informed me that the customer who was  ahead of me had paid for my coffee.  I was truly blown away by this strangers kindness because I had never seen this person in my life before.  Her kindness reminded me of a time that my dad handed me $2,500.00, instructing me to give it to a total stranger.  I took that money and placed it in the mailbox of an elderly woman who I knew struggled to pay for decent food to eat. …

Hate in America

Inspiration HATE IN AMERICA I often wonder if the majority of America went to sleep one night and awoke the next morning with a new found animosity for others.  Arguably, our country has never been more divided than it is today.  Literally tens of thousands of people are uncharacteristically violently acting out against others who don’t share their same beliefs.  Political beliefs appear to be at the core of our current fighting amongst each other A Persons Political Beliefs Does Not Make Someone a Good or Bad Person The fact is that God has made us all unique.  We were all born as blank slates.  What we believe and how we feel about certain things, are often a direct result of our life experiences.  Our lives would be very boring if the people we have encountered in our…

To Whom and or What am I a Slave Of

Most of us believe that our survival dictates that we must work to support our families, to save for our retirement, to pay for the things we enjoy in life and to attempt to be financially secure. Yet, Jesus taught us, "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal." (Matthew 6:19-20)Are the aforementioned teachings of Jesus contrary to what the world demands we must do to ensure our security and survival?  Let us consider what Jesus' was attempting to teach us.Jesus continued with his teaching stating that, " For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also...(Matthew 6:21).   Perhaps Jesus was…

Tired of Pain and Suffering

Frankly, serving God and the public as a pastor, is not always an easy commitment for my life’s work.  Daily, I receive tear jerking letters from people who are tired of the pain and suffering that their family, friends and themselves often endure.Very rarely, do such letters omit the question, ‘why does God permit so much pain and suffering to go on in this world?’Is pain and suffering the plan that God has for your life?  It took me years to realize myself, who is actually responsible for the pain and suffering many of us have and or now experiencing. Who is the Ruler of This World? In answering who is the ruler of this world, we can consult God’s word, the Bible, which tells us that the world belongs to Satan.  Please consider how Satan attempted to sway Jesus…

Why is Satan Allowed To Rule This World

Inspiration Why is satan allowed to rule this world How did it come to be that God has allowed Satan to rule the world in consideration that the Bible informs us that “In the beginning, when God created the universe, the earth was formless and desolate. The raging ocean that covered everything was engulfed in total darkness, and the Spirit of God was moving over the water. Then God commanded, “Let there be light”—and light appeared. God was pleased with what he saw. Then he separated the light from the darkness, and he named the light “Day” and the darkness “Night.” Evening passed and morning came.....”? (Genesis 1:1-25) The Bible further informs us that “Then God said, And now we will make human beings; they will be like us and resemble us. They will have power over the…

Who is Satan?

As previously discussed the Bible states that Satan is currently in charge of this world.   Even Jesus Christ Himself, shortly before His arrest and crucifixion, acknowledged Satan’s authority: “I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me” (John 14:30)Satan cleverly influences world events by injecting his evil ideas into the minds of human beings, much as a television transmitter broadcasts its signal into the air to be received in people’s homes.  This analogy can help us see why Scripture calls Satan the “prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were…
